The Training
Progress in every martial art is measured by the development of physical qualities such as stamina, strength, speed, power, coordination, timing and others. Applying these qualities in technical actions with certain tactical goals defines the character of each martial art.
Physical Qualities
Training stamina, strength and flexibility is the basis for building specific technical skills in Ving Tsun Kung Fu. Methods such as running, rope skipping, strength gymnastics and stretching are often used to help the basic technical work during practice.
Technical Skills
Mastering well the technique is one of the main goals in practicing Ving Tsun Kung Fu. The clean technique is an ideal that can be reached through the successive use of different methods. Practicing attack and defense actions in different combinations, that can be performed by themselves or with tools like a wall bag, boxing bag, wooden dummy and others, takes a large part of the practice of the Ving Tsun fighter.
Chi Sao
As a special method of sparing in Ving Tsun, Chi Sao develops reflexes, timing and sense (Kum Kok). There are several stages of practicing Chi Sao, which start with Dan Chi, go on with Poon Sao, then Lap Sao and end up with Go Sao and free sparing. It is possible to become a good fighter without practicing Chi Sao, but with it you will be with no doubt much better...
Sparring
To test the technique it is necessary to practice it in specific fight situations. Working with a partner is essential in Ving Tsun Kung Fu. Only then the extent of mastering the principles of art can be seen. In the beginning are used preliminary agreed combinations of attacks and defenses, while in the course of time fighters move on to finding intuitively the right decisions in randomly raised situations.
